BOARD ITEMS
Old Business
Comprehensive Plan-Chairman Waygan expressed her preference that the Board focus specifically on the Economic Development Element draft at tonight’s meeting.
Economic Development Element Draft-Chairman Waygan reported that she looked up SWOT Analysis online and found numerous resources describing the process and recommended that other Board members may consider doing the same if they were seeking more information about the process. In particular, the Chair noted that many SWOT analyses also include questionnaires. The Chair and Mr. Fudala will send suggested wording changes to the draft’s text directly to Mr. Newton.
Board members discussed the newly proposed goals, indicating that they were somewhat aligned with the original goals. There was discussion noting that the goals combined both an economic and tax base element. Changes were made to the goals and a fifth goal was added. Comparisons were also made to the original objectives and changes and additions were made to the objectives. Board members also reviewed the SWOT analysis, making changes and additions to the chart. Copies of the changes are attached.
Board members will review the second half of the SWOT analysis in order to discuss them at the next meeting. Comments regarding the text of the Economic Development Draft should be forwarded to Mr. Fudala.
Affordable Housing Element Draft-There was discussion regarding the need to have the Affordable Housing Element approved separate from the rest of the Comprehensive Plan since the production plan expired last year.
