Important Notice to Short-Term Rental Property Owners/Operators

If you own property in the Town of Mashpee that you operate as a short-term rental, your compliance with the Mashpee Rental Property Bylaw and Mashpee Board of Health Short-Term Rental Regulation is mandatory. To ensure the health and safety of short-term rental occupants and neighbors, and to protect the owners of short-term rental properties, the Town has instituted a short-term rental registration and inspection program, as provided for in the Rental Property Bylaw and Short-Term Rental Regulation.

Registrations must be done through “PermitEyes”, the Town’s online permitting system. Prior to completing your registration form, you will need to create a user account. You may begin by visiting the Town website at www.mashpeema.gov, select “Health” under Departments, and then choose “Online Permitting” from the blue tabs on the left side of the page. There you will find links to view the Rental Property Bylaw and Short-Term Rental Regulation, as well as a link to the ONLINE PERMITTING INSTRUCTIONS, which explain the registration process in detail, including how to upload attachments, when/how to use the online payment option, and how to use the “chat” feature to communicate with our staff. After carefully reviewing those instructions, click the “Online Permitting Link" at the bottom of the page to be brought to the “Sign In” page, where you will click "New User Register Here" and continue step-by-step through the registration process.
Registration Tips:
- When completing your user registration, be sure to use your permanent home address and the email address where you want your renewal email to be sent. If that email changes at any point, contact our office immediately.
- On Screen 2, choose your Username and Password. If you forget your Password, you may reset it by entering your Username and clicking “Forgot Password”.
- On Screen 3, check the box for Homeowner
Once registered, you will use your Username and Password to sign-in to PermitEyes, where you will be brought to the Home Page of the permitting program. There you will click “New Application” at the very top of the page, and then the “BOH” tab. At the bottom of the BOH module, click the “Short-Term Rental Permit Application”. Please complete the form in its entirety, to include uploading/attaching a sketch of your floor plan showing the dimensions of each room.
A member of our staff will review your application and contact you via the online “chat” feature, should there be any questions. You will receive an email from PermitEyes confirming that you can pay your registration fee, once your submission is approved. You may use our online payment option or mail a check made payable to the Town of Mashpee. When payment is received, you will be contacted by a member of our staff to schedule an inspection of the rental property.
