Route 151 Corridor Improvements
The project has been divided into two phases. Phase 1 extends from approximately 900 feet west of the Old Barnstable Road intersection to the Mashpee Rotary. This phase includes:
- Reconfiguration of the intersections and replacement of the traffic signals at Old Barnstable Road (including provision of dedicated left turn lanes on Old Barnstable Road), at Frank E. Hicks Drive/Job's Fishing Road (including provision of a dedicated right turn lane on Route 151 to Job's Fishing Road), and Market Street;
- Extension of the multi-use path on the north side of Route 151 from Frank E. Hicks Drive to Market Street;
- Construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Route 151 from Old Barnstable Road to Job's Fishing Road;
- Drainage improvements;
- Repaving of the road.
Construction of Phase 1 will be funded through state and federal monies. The project will be overseen by MassDOT. They have awarded a contract to Lawrence-Lynch Corp.. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2022 and will continue through March 2025.
Phase 2 extends from the Mashpee/Falmouth Town Line to where Phase 1 ended. There will be some overlap with Phase 1. This phase includes:
- Extension of the multi-use path on the north side of Route 151 from Old Barnstable Road to James Circle;
- Construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Route 151 from Old Barnstable Road to Winslow Road;
- Provision of left turn lanes at Algonquin Ave and a center turn lane from Ninigret Ave to Old Brickyard Rd;
- Drainage improvements;
- Repaving of the road.
Construction of Phase 2 will be funded through state and federal monies. Construction is scheduled for FFY26-27.
