Voting Procedures:

If a person wanted to vote using an absentee ballot, they must request a ballot with the town clerk’s office prior to the election.

They could request a ballot by going either to the town clerk’s office in town hall or online at the Town of Mashpee website.

The Town Clerk's Office will then mail the ballots to those who request one mailed to their houses. Once a Mashpee resident fills out their ballot, they have several options to return it to be counted in the vote. They could hand-deliver it to the clerk’s office in town hall, mail it into the office, drop it off in a secure box outside town hall, fax a scan of the ballot to the clerk at 508-539-1142, or email Ms. Kaye a scan of the ballot directly at ddami@mashpeema.gov.

Those using a mail-in method both to request the ballot and to send it back in should allow plenty of time, as the US Postal Service is experiencing staff shortages.

Though early voting is not allowed for local elections, a person could also vote “absentee” prior to October 4 by going to the clerk’s office in town hall, filling out an absentee ballot then and there, and returning it to the Town Clerk's Office without ever leaving the building.

Ms. Kaye pointed out that absentee ballots still need a “wet signature,” regardless of how they are returned to the clerk’s office. A computer-generated signature will not be accepted.
